This year, Dimit Architects has been very lucky to help shape an emerging block in the Gordon Square Arts District in Cleveland’s Detroit Shoreway neighborhood with three impactful projects.

Waverly & Oak

Waverly & Oak, currently under construction, will be an activated and energized mixed-use development. Located on Detroit Avenue in the Gordon Square Arts District, the project will include retail, co-working office space, and 122 apartments situated around a central public courtyard, with a 98-space below-grade parking structure. The mid-rise project will be seven stories of post-tension concrete construction.

The developer, Bond Street Group, approaches real estate development with “a hospitality mindset – curated & experiential, targeting an ideal balance of approachability & aspiration.”

Waverly & Oak will include new exterior public space, and an overall urban form that holds the street edge to encourage pedestrian connectivity and public gathering. Bond Street is proud to partner with local artists to incorporate public art throughout the Project.

Gordon Green Events

A few doors down at 5400 Detroit Avenue, a 100 year old building was renovated into a new event and entertainment venue.

Gordon Green Events is a 10,000 square foot event space featuring upstairs and downstairs event spaces, a seasonal patio and large catering kitchen.

Spice Catering Co.

Around the corner from Waverly & Oak and Gordon Green Events, fronting Tillman Avenue, Dimit Architects designed a new facility for Spice Catering Company. Spice Catering specializes in farm-to-table cuisine and nature-inspired presentations that spotlight Ohio’s lush, local landscape.

The project transformed what was formerly an industrial space into the new headquarters and production facility for Spice. It is also home to their Keep the Change Kitchen Collective, which offers a “virtual food hall” of to go meal options.

The facility features 4715 sq. ft. of commercial kitchen space, 1865 sq. ft. of offices, and a tasting room which hosts special events and serves as a showroom for furniture available for rent.
