This conceptual single family home was designed for a heavily wooded sloping site overlooking the west slope of the Chagrin River Valley in Gates Mills, Ohio. The 5,000 s.f. home was conceived as a series of interconnected pavilions stepped into the gradual rise of the site from the arrival and entry foyer. Two separate children’s bedroom wings- one for the girls and another for the boys- are located above at the second floor level linked by a two-story stair hall and “floating” bridge. The arrangement of the separate house wings and pavilions shelters a central swimming pool courtyard with dramatic views eastward toward the Chagrin Valley.

The exterior facades of this home were designed to be clad in ipe wood slat rain-screen, dry-stack horizontal limestone, and galvanized standing seam metal roofing.
